Restaurant Guide

MEXICO,

964 Atwells Ave., Providence, 331-4985.

Mexico is fabled as the place to get such exotic preparations as shredded goat meat tacos, cow's feet tostadas or beef tongue gorditas, but they also offer more routine Mexican fare. The chicken fajitas ($8) are pleasingly filled with fork-tender bits of chicken, fresh from a spicy lime marinade, broiled with peppers, onions and tomatoes. And the triple quesadilla plate ($6) offers deliciously inspired combinations of vegetable fillings. Mexico's special pinto beans, simmered to tenderness and lightly seasoned, are a pleasant accompaniment. Don't miss out on the orchata, an almond-flavored rice-milk drink which offers a cool contrast to the food's hot and savory zing.
